Niagara Regional Police detectives have been investigating a weapons call in Niagara on the Lake. Just before 3 PM yesterday, officers were called to a residence in the area of Niagara Stone Road near Ann Street for a disturbance. The initial information developed a concern that a firearm may be involved in the incident. Officers contained the residence and the NRPS Emergency Task Unit and Crisis Negotiators were called in. The house was cleared for safety by ETU officers. No one was injured. One person was arrested at the scene. Detectives executed a search warrant on the residence and say nothing of evidentiary value was located. As a result of the investigation, detectives have not found evidence of a criminal offence. The person who had been arrested has been released from custody unconditionally.
