Last week’s Book Riot at the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls was a record-breaking, tremendous success. The 44th annual book sale in support of Birchway Niagara, formerly Womens Place of South Niagara, raised over $110,000, topping the previous record of $95,000 raised last year. About 5,000 people attended this year’s event, which ran from last Tuesday until Sunday evening. The Book Riot is the largest fundraiser for Birchway Niagara, which provides support to families in Niagara who are affected by gender-based violence, and operates a shelter in Niagara Falls for women and children escaping abusive relationships.
