
The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority says while it’s been a wet winter so far, water levels in the local watercourses remain well below critical flood elevations.
Flood Risk Management Officer Ryan Kitchen says that while water levels are above average for this time of year, they don’t pose risk for extreme flooding in the region.
NPCA says after lots of rain Tuesday, there is a risk of some flooding in low-lying areas, as the saturated ground cannot absorb the snow as well as it would in other seasons. You’re also urged to download the app ‘Alertable’, which is used by NPCA to alert residents should there be any major flood risk.
