Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit says there’s no reasonable grounds to charge a Niagara Regional Police officer after a man died in custody in September.
The SIU says the man was arrested on a break and enter warrant, and overdosed within 30 minutes of being in a police cell.
The report says the man reportedly had drugs hidden in his rectum, but a strip search was not conducted as he wasn’t arrested on drug charges and denied using drugs.
