The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority alerts the public and local municipalities about potential flooding in its jurisdiction, covering the Niagara Peninsula, the southeastern part of the City of Hamilton, and the eastern area of Haldimand County.
A developing weather system is expected to bring 15 to 30 mm of rain overnight Thursday into Friday morning. With warmer temperatures and melting snow, increased runoff into rivers, ditches, and storm sewer systems may lead to flooding in low-lying areas.
Water levels are currently above average but below critical flood levels. Residents are cautioned to stay away from watercourses due to slippery slopes, unstable ice, and elevated water levels.
