This is National Non-Smoking Week.
Debbie McIntyre a Public Health Nurse and Certified Tobacco Educator says a common myth out there is that Nicotine Replacement Therapy, like the patch, or gum, doesn’t work.
McIntyre says there’s a lot of talk about how smoking and vaping can help someone relax, which she says isn’t the case.
While there is a cost associated with the products, there are programs in place that provide free stop-smoking aids. Contact your primary care provider or your health unit for more information.
