Minister explains how date for Easter Sunday is chosen each year

Last year Easter Sunday fell on April 9th. In 2022 it was April 16th. 2021, March 28th. That begs the question, just how is the date for Easter Sunday determined?

We asked Minister in the United Church of Canada Mike Perreault to explain.

So it is the Sunday after the first full moon after the after the Vernal Equinox. That’s why it bounces around the calendar. Rev. Perreault says there is a movement, albeit a small one, to have Easter take place on the second Sunday of April. It hasn’t gained traction. That means the best way to find out is just to ask Google.
