91.7 Giant FM Cash FX prize entering record territory

The Classic Rock 91.7 Giant FM Cash FX jackpot is now growing into record territory.

As of 5:00pm Thursday, the jackpot is sitting at $10,500 and growing.

The game is easy – a caller hears a sound on their radio, calls the station to guess, and if they’re right, they win the inflating jackpot. If they’re wrong, $100 is added to the jackpot for the next player.

Rob Mise is the Vice-President of Content for My Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of Classic Rock 91.7 Giant FM, and says the record-breaking prize has people buzzing all across the Niagara Region.

The current sound has been kept a secret since March 20th, with listeners playing on weekdays at 8:00am during Giant Mornings with Darlene and Brian, 11:00am with Chris Lukas, as well as 2:00pm, 4:00pm and 5:00pm with Jef and The Great Brandoon.

Now that the total now has eclipsed $10,000, that means there have been more than 100 incorrect guesses.

Mise says a big part of the active participation from listeners has to do with making ends meet, as the prize is life-changing money for most people.

When it comes to the Niagara radio audience, Mise adds that he’s not surprised Giant FM listeners have been so dedicated in trying to figure out what the sound is.
