It’s been just over one year since shovels went in the ground to start building the new South Niagara Hospital.
Official say to date, progress is significant on the five-year construction project, which will end with the region having a state-of-the-art hospital. The excavation for the foundation and basement level is complete, with over 1250 steel piles inserted into the bedrock to support the foundation. Elevator shafts and stairwells are beginning to take shape, and most site services, including waterlines, stormwater, and sanitary sewers, are finished.
On average, there are more than 200 workers on-site each day. The Hospital Project is on track for completion in 2028.
