Classic Rock 91.7 Giant FM’s very own Chris Lukas took a trip to Toronto last week, and came back to Niagara with some hardware.
Lukas was named ‘Announcer of the Year’ within My Broadcasting Corporation, the parent country of Giant FM, at the company’s annual retreat on Thursday evening.
The midday host says it caught her completely off guard, with announcers from over 20 markets across Ontario in the running.
Lukas started on air with Giant FM at the end of 2022, after previously being on air with their sister station, New Country 89.1, since 2021.
She says to date, this is one of the best honours she’s had in her 40+ year radio career.
Known within the walls of the radio station as outgoing, funny and quick-witted, Lukas translates all of that when on the radio as well.
General Sales Manager Mike Haberer says the energy Chris brings to the building every day is tough to match, but in a good way.
Chris’ show has become regular listening for many throughout the Niagara Region, with a number of elements that listeners look forward to daily including the Brain Strain and What’s Trending, as well as her charismatic videos on social media.
She shares her secret to winning an award, for anyone that may want to try and win one for themself.
You can listen to Chris Lukas weekdays on 91.7 Giant FM from 9:00am to 2:00pm, as well as 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Saturdays.
