An Ajax teen made history this past weekend, as he took part in festivities at the Honda Indy race in Toronto.
15-year-old Mayer Deonarine put on a show racing in the Pro 1340 class, placing himself at the top of the podium. Deonarine competes in the Radical Cup across North America, and won all three of his races in Toronto over the weekend.
While not old enough to legally drive on the streets of Toronto as a regular motorist, Mayer outclassed others on the racetrack on Toronto’s streets. The average cost for races like this past weekend in Toronto is about $40,000, which is why he’s looking for more financial donors and sponsors to help him progress in his career.
Mayer joined Giant Mornings with Darlene & Brian to discuss his early career in racing, and what’s next for him.
