Crews from Canadian Niagara Power say power has been restored to all residents, after reports of a tornado Monday afternoon.
Reports came in about the outages just after 12:00pm today, after reports of funnel clouds in the area as rain showers persisted through the late-morning. There are reports that the tornado began in Fort Erie, and carried over into Buffalo, overturning a camping trailer in Fort Erie.
In Fort Erie, it appears to have been near Walmart on Garrison Road, with damage also reported at the RONA just down the road.
Manager of RONA Fort Erie Jeff Hill says he saw wood flying, and got there once he could.
Hill estimates the damage of his store at about $500,000, but says at the end of the day he’s just glad nobody was injured.
Liz Reddon, who lives on Sims Avenue behind the RONA, was outside to take down her patio umbrella when the roof from Rona came flying into her yard.
Both Reddon and her daughter were uninjured, while the roof from RONA damaged her backyard pool.
There are no words yet on any injuries elsewhere in the Fort Erie and Stevensville area, however damage is being seen throughout the area.
