The Ontario government is investing $35-million over three years to support the Shaw Festival’s rebuild of the Royal George Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
This project will enhance tourism, create 550 jobs, and contribute $80-million to the economy.
The new, modern theatre will offer expanded seating, accessible spaces, and upgraded rehearsal areas, allowing the Shaw Festival to grow its educational and cultural programs.
The current Royal George Theatre will close later this year, with the rebuild set for completion by Spring 2029.
