2022 was a record year for United Way Niagara. The annual fall campaign, led by Campaign Chair and President of Niagara College Canada, Sean Kennedy, raised more funds than the organization has ever raised in one year. United Way announced a fundraising total of $5,270,000 at their annual Campaign Celebration on Wednesday, surpassing the $5 million-dollar goal set in September. The celebration was a return to in-person festivities after a three-year hiatus.
Even more staggering is the number of people that accessed United Way-funded programs last year. Prior to this past year, the most people helped was approximately 130,000 in 2020. In 2022 a nearly 35% increase in people accessing United Way funded programs illustrates the need is greater ever, surpassing 175,000 people helped for the first time.
