The City of Welland is getting ready to plant $10,000 worth of trees along the canal, thanks to Tree Canada and the LCBO Spirit of Sustainability Initiative.
The plan is to plant most of the trees in the area of Kingsway and Glenwood parkway, an area used for many summer events in Welland including international rowing competitions.
Each year city staff plants around 350 trees to beautify residential spaces.
They are looking for 5 to 10 volunteers to help get planting on Friday, if you are interested you can contact the city directly.
