A Welland man is $1-million richer, just in time for the holidays.
Joe Chuckry of Welland took home a the $1-million grand prize playing Instant Millionaire Multiplier recently, and said he wasn’t even sure if he won until he checked the ticket. He originally thought he won $1000, before realizing it was much higher.
“I was in shock and started to question what I had seen on the screen. When I returned home, I told my wife we needed to talk, and she thought something was wrong. I was shaking as I showed her the ticket and said, ‘I think I won $1,000.’ I scanned my ticket on the OLG app, and she said, ‘No—that’s a million!’ We immediately started celebrating together,”
He and his family celebrated by listening to ‘If I Had A Million Dollars’ by the Barenaked Ladies.
The healthcare worker says he plans on paying off his mortgage, and taking a vacation to Hawaii with his family. The winning ticket was purchased at Kay’s Korner Variety on Thorold Road in Welland.
